Escort Driver Job Scam

I was searching for some quick money jobs, that didn’t require my getting naked. I stumbled upon a link that read $300-$500 per shift, for driving escorts around Las Vegas. The website had a phone number (818-857-2489)and an email (TRANSPORTERS00@YMAIL.COM) to contact them with.  The add promised $300 at the beginning of your shift in cash, then after tips, usually accumulate around $500.

When I first called, the woman answered asking when I would like to work. I told her some time during the following week. She told me to call the day I wanted to work. I asked her if I could use my own car or if I was supposed to use the company car and she told me either one would do.  I called the woman the following day since I got out of work early, she asked me if I had $300 to give to them and I told her no. She then hung up the phone.

I have tried to make any scam type job I come across known to public or at least make the information publicly accessible. I feel like us innocent job searching folk should stick together. I hope this article helps someone to avoid forking over $300 for nothing. Here is a website of comments about this woman and her scams.

Looking for a Resolution…

A  fellow animal lover and myself have come across this website…

http://pets-r-us.yolasite.com/services.php

We would like to know if the website is a scam or not.  There are no credentials or contact information. But the people who are “running ” it, took time to organize a website from yolasite.com.

Just hoping to get the word out about our curiosity and hopefully get some answers from anyone who may have used this site.  Please comment and fill us in.

In addition, I would like to reassure my readers that I am not calling this website a scam, I am simply looking for information about it.

So if the website owners do stumble upon this blog, I apologize for any negative activity I may have caused (maybe you can clear it up).

NEW JOB!!!

I am so happy to finally have some good news to post on my site, the last couple have been so negative, helpful, but negative.  I have been hired on full time by the company Amazing Pictures.  They shoot people before a show/ride/attraction and offer to sell it to them at the end.  My station is at the Paris Casino in Las Vegas and the photograph is offered to people before they go up in the Eiffel Tower. I will be switching between photographing, selling and cashiering. SO it’s not a full blown photography job, but it will get my foot in the door.

So anyone who is job searching out there. Keep your head up and don’t give up and eventually, some light will be shed your way.  But remember, with everyone needing light during these tough times, only a little may be shed per person.  It’s up to you to make the best with what you have and live as simply and humbly as possible!

Photography Job Scam on Craigslist!!!

So I graduated from UNLV in December and wanted to start my career in photography with some small stuff to build me resume.

I went job hunting on craigslist and found a great job!!!

The link to the job looked like this:

Here is the copy of her email, so that my readers don’t think all my blogs are a bunch of bull.

Hello Sara,

I got a hold of my credit report and score and copy pasted it to a word document just because I do not have a printer at home with ink in it.  If you could just let me know where I can meet you Thursday morning, I will be happy to arrive!

I have been actively looking for an English bulldog for purchase and for a generally decent price. I happened upon this add for English bulldogs for $200 for shipment at this site

www.global-free-classified-ads.com

and the seller emailed me immediately.  The seller lives in Cameroon, that is in Africa, FYI! So my boyfriend and I did some research and found multiple scam reports from Cameroon for different types of puppies.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some people forked over money and were very disappointed.

These two sites have multiple examples of Puppy Scams from Cameroon

How would you be receiving the payment if this were to happen? Do they have the same banks there in Africa? Excuse my curiosity but I have read a lot of puppy scams from Cameroon specifically and many of them have the same information that I have received thus far…

Hello, I am actually located in Las Vegas, Nevada.  I know I would be able to take care of them. My biggest issue is the transportation, that is a long way for only $200 dollars and I know that the trip would be a lot for them. I can really only afford one, but if there is something I can work our for both. Let me know if the U.S. is even possible for that price before I keep going on…

i am a devoted Christian and i cannot collect money from some one without sending his/her puppies for it is wrong in the eyes of God.if i had the money i would have shipped them directly to you without asking for a dime from you.the problem is that i dont have the money right now.that is why i asked for the money to pay for their flight.i am a worker as well and i know how we all work hard to earn the money which we have.i cannot be crazy to take money from you without shipping your puppies..so i want u to be rest assured that you will have precious and eddie in your arms before you know it..but if you dont feel comfortable,i will look for another good home for the puppies else where.thanks

I don’t think I should follow through, this whole thing seems uncertain to me. And so you are not shocked to find that another interested persons has declined, I have found someone else who has the exact same emails…pretty much and she now thinks this idea is a scam. Just for the record. I think that what you are involved in is sick. People are broke as it is, and here you are trying to use a real world problem like dog adoption and turning it into something untrustworthy and fake.  I think you should get in touch with your god again and hopefully listen a lot better next time!

Change of Heart

For the past two years I have been taking photography classes at UNLV which  focuses on the fine art aspect. This semester a commercial photo class has been offered by Sergio Checko to help the students at UNLV get a wider range of education and practice.  I have completely fallen head over heels for this type of photography.  We have had three assignments so far and I have felt very strongly about the outcome of each one. The first was just a play with lighting, shadows and shapes, the second was food, and the third was headshots of our classmates.  All done with hot lights and reflectors!  I have always been more prone to documentary photography and attracted to landscape and wildlife photography, but was never able to act upon it because the classes I was taking required me to search my mind for fine art.  I have no problem with what I have been taught so far; in fact, I am glad that I was pushed to explore fine art before jumping right into commercial, it made me appreciate what other people can do. However, now that it has been introduced to me,  I am very excited to say that I have found my niche.  I will always shoot in documentary form and somewhat in fine art, since my eye has been trained to view things in this way, but my focus will be to shoot commercially for local people and hopefully a magazine.

I would love to work for National Geographic some day. I do think that with more experince I will be able to do so.   I decided to take four more classes in different fields of commercial photography after I graduate in December 2009.  I will be attending CSN to further my knowledge in the field of my future career.  When I open my own freelance photography business, it will be called Nativelea Photo. Keep an eye out and hopefully I’ll see ya soon!

Dawning of a New View

It has been a while since I have last written, but I feel it necessary to give the world an update on my new perspective on photography.

There have been many life changing events this summer for me, and they have all impacted me in an emotional and artistic way.  In my Intermediate Black & White photography class, I used a lot of control in my work and not a lot of feeling.  Don’t get me wrong I like the work I have done; each photo shows a little bit more of my learning experience.  This semester I am enrolled in Advanced Black & White Photography with Catherine Angel and I have already used a new method for my shooting.  I plan to incorporate my feelings into the photo; therefor, creating a more emotional experience for my viewer.

Now that I am living on my own, with no roommates and only the person on the phone as my company, I have had more time to myself to analyze what I would like to convey in my art.  I have always told people that the whole reason I photograph so many things is because I like to share the feeling I felt at that moment with someone else.  Then I realized I was not putting my heart into my work, I was simply doing the assignments.  Which may get me a grade, but it won’t make me proud of my work. Although I have recently gained a new feeling of confidence and appreciation for my time in Las Vegas, Nevada, my heart lies in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and I miss it dearly.  So why shouldn’t I show that in my work?  I should that is the point.

As soon as I get a moment to digitally photgraphy my new print style I will pot some pictures and hopefully get some feedback; positive or negative, I appreciate both.

Exposure 4

So, UNLV is putting on an exhibition of art work from the advanced and intermediate black and white photography classes. Three of my pieces have been selected as a maybe, but it is possible that one of them goes into the yes pile. I am hopeful. It would be nice to put on a resume. Anyways, if anyone would like to go and see the exhibition. Here are the details:

Exposure 4

Showing April 14-25

Opening Reception: Thursday April 17th, 6-9 p.m.

In the Grant Hall Gallery.

Very exciting. I hope some of you can come.

Marine Cruelty and Public Expression

I never understood why people would harm an animal; they are defenseless and vulnerable. Not that I want people to see the event, but this video is vital to the seriousness of this act. One marine has clearly shown the world how he has chosen to represent himself as a person of the U.S. military. What kind of sick person kills something so innocent, and not only that, he videotaped it! I am glad the act was witnessed, so he does not go unpunished. But it is sad to me that now the marines are going to be stereotyped more so than before. This one marine, if we shall even call him that, has tainted the views of many Americans with this act of cruelness. I do not know what sort of punishment is in hold for this man, but I hope it is enough to alter any future decisions of animal cruelty made by military personnel.

The public deserves the right to express themselves about this horrific incident. If anyone should like to contact the Marines Public Affairs, his name is Major General Robert E. Milstead, Jr, director of public affairs, and this is his email address: robert.milstead@usmc.mil. These specifics were derived from a blog written by the ASPCA.
